The Faculty of natural scienes II, Institute of physics, at Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg is seeking a full-time
Engineer (m-f-d)
for a fixed term of 1 year starting at the earlierst possible opportunity.
The above fixed-term contract is in accordance with Section 14, Paragraph 2 of the TzBfG (Teilzeit- und Befristungsgesetz – ‘German Part-Time and Fixed-Term Employment Act’), which stipulates that only applicants with no prior employment relationship with the state of Saxony-Anhalt will be considered.
Remuneration will be determined based on job duties and responsibilities and will be aligned with the fulfillment of listed personal requirements, up to pay grade 11 under the TV-L (Tarifvertrag für den Öffentlichen Dienst der Länder – 'German Public Service Pay Agreement for the Federal States').
Job Responsibilities:
- Independent development of complex, novel instrument setup for photoelectron spectroscopy
- Development and implementation of ambitious scientific software to control, evaluate and automize experiments
- Independent evaluation and recommendation of technical solutions for the procurement of components, based on own market research and assessment of technical feasibility
- Coordination and technical supervision of the new laboratory build-up
- Coordination of the procurement of new equipment for the laboratory setup
- Establishment and maintenance of technical documentation for experiments and experimental systems
- Conducting and analysing experiments in surface and boundary physics
Requirements:
- Completed university degree (BA) of engineering, physics or equivalent qualification
- Solid knowledge of solid-state physics
- Comprehensive expertise in software development (especially Python, Bluesky, EPICS, C++)
- Knowledge in electronics development and mechanical design (CAD)
- Experience in laser spectroscopy
- Experience with handling and developing UHV systems
- Experience with ARPES systems
- Excellent communication skills
- High level of self-motivation
- Very good English language proficiency
