Am Institut für Umweltphysik ist ab dem 1. August 2026 folgende Stelle (Vollzeit) zunächst befristet bis zum 31. Juli 2028 zu besetzen:
Technische*r Mitarbeiter*in für die europäische Klimaforschung (w/m/d)
Die Stelle ist im Zentralen Radiokohlenstofflabor der Forschungsinfrastruktur ICOS (www.icos-ri.eu) angesiedelt und unterstützt dieses bei der Aufbereitung atmosphärischer CO₂-Proben für die europäische Klimaforschung. Die durchgeführten Δ¹⁴CO₂-Beobachtungen bilden eine zentrale Grundlage für die experimentelle Überprüfung der Reduktion fossiler CO₂-Emissionen. Sie ermöglichen es, den Anteil des fossilen CO₂ in der Atmosphäre direkt zu quantifizieren und liefern damit eine unabhängige, messbasierte Grundlage zur Bewertung nationaler und europäischer Emissionsminderungen im Rahmen des Pariser Klimaabkommens.
Ihre Aufgaben:
- Aufbereitung von in Lauge gesammelten CO₂-Proben für die Radiokohlenstoffmessung
- Versorgung des europäischen ICOS-Messnetzwerks mit CO2-freier Lauge, die die Probenbasis für die 14C-Beprobung bildet
- Mitwirkung bei der Wartung und Instandhaltung von Laborapparaturen
- Datenbankgestützte Vorbereitung und Dokumentation der Probenaufbereitung
Ihr Profil:
- Abgeschlossene Ausbildung im technischen Bereich (Physikalisch-technische Assistenz, chemisch-technische Assistenz, Laborant*in) oder eine vergleichbare Berufsausbildung
- Technisches Verständnis für komplexe Laborabläufe und Vakuumtechnik
- Sicherer Umgang mit Windows-basierten Anwendungen
- Sorgfältige und strukturierte Arbeitsweise, insbesondere im Umgang mit kontaminationsanfälligen Proben

Technical Assistant for European climate research (f/m/d)
The vacancy is based at the Central Radiocarbon Laboratory within the ICOS research infrastructure (www.icos-ri.eu) and supports the laboratory in preparing atmospheric CO₂ samples for European climate research. The Δ¹⁴CO₂ observations serve as a central basis for the experimental verification of reductions in fossil CO₂ emissions. They enable the direct quantification of the proportion of fossil CO₂ in the atmosphere and thus provide an independent, measurement-based basis for assessing national and European emission reductions within the framework of the Paris Climate Agreement.
Your responsibilities:
- Preparing CO₂ samples collected in l basic solution for radiocarbon analysis
- Supplying the European ICOS monitoring network with CO₂-free basic solution, which forms the sample base for 14C sampling
- Assisting with the maintenance and upkeep of laboratory equipment
- Database-supported preparation and documentation of sample processing
Your profile:
- Completed training in a technical field (physical-technical assistant, chemical-technical assistant, laboratory technician) or comparable vocational training
- Technical understanding of complex laboratory processes and vacuum technology
- Proficiency in using Windows-based applications
- A meticulous and structured approach to work, particularly when handling samples susceptible to contamination
