Postdoc position - Institute for Clinical Immunology and Cell Therapeutics
Third-party funding
The DUDECK LAB (Research Group IMMUNOREGULATION) at the INSTITUTE FOR CLINICAL IMMUNOLOGY AND CELL THERAPEUTICS, OTTO-VON-GUERICKE UNIVERSITY MAGDEBURG,
is looking for highly motivated early-career researchers
We offer a
postdoc position
Salary according to TVL-E13
Full time, initially limited to 2 years
Our research focus
We investigate the functional relevance of mast cells in innate and adaptive immune responses, as well as in acute and chronic inflammatory processes, in vivo. Our research focuses on the intercellular communication of mast cells with tissue-resident immune cells, such as dendritic cells and macrophages, as well as non-immune cells, including the endothelium and epithelium. We also examine the characteristics of perivascular mast cells and their influence on blood vessel activation and the recruitment of effector immune cells. Of further interest are the functions of mast cells in regulating barrier integrity and inter-organ communication. To this end, we use innovative transgenic in vivo mouse models and combine high-end imaging techniques, such as intravital two-photon microscopy, three-dimensional light-sheet microscopy, multi-parameter microscopy and live-cell imaging, with molecular biology, cell biology, immunology methods and omics technologies.

Your profile
We are seeking highly motivated candidates with an excellent PhD in biology, biochemistry or a related field, a keen interest in researching immunology, allergology and inflammation, and strong teamwork skills to join our ambitious, international research team. Candidates must have extensive experience with cell biological, immunological, and molecular biological methods, including flow cytometry and microscopy techniques. Experience of working with transgenic mouse models, designing animal experiments and breeding planning, as well as relevant qualifications, is desirable. Prior experience in the supervision of doctoral students or in the field of education would be advantageous.
Your tasks
You will be involved in complex, scientifically and methodologically challenging research projects, including working with transgenic mouse models and their conceptual design and planning, as well as with innovative microscopy and omics technologies. In addition, you will supervise junior scientists and students (PhD, medical and Master's students) in their laboratory activities and research work. You will also be involved in administrative tasks and teaching. In the future, you will also have the opportunity to contribute to the conception of research projects.
We offer
A multifaceted, exciting position in a highly motivated and internationally visible research team in the field of mast cell biology, and using innovative techniques. Our unique selling point is the imaging-based monitoring of intercellular communication in the context of inflammatory processes. Our group is part of the well-equipped Institute for Clinical Immunology and Cell Therapeutics, and innovative imaging techniques are available at the Multiparametric Bioimaging and Cytometry platform. Applicants can be associated with the RTG2408 graduate school (“Maladaptive processes across physiological barriers in chronic diseases”) to benefit from close networking with other PhD students and to participate in the supervised qualification programs (for more information see http://grk2408.ovgu.de/
